Dates stayed - Sept 25 - Oct 3, 2009 - via guestbook at the condo - Linda & Danny, Each morning breakfast on the lanai, the water was always calm in the morning. Observed many things in the fish pond while eating. Jumping stingray, seals, turtles, schools of small fish on the surface, some type of sea bass like fish about 2 feet long that would make incredible jumps.. When we saw the gentleman swimming by on his hour plus swim, we knew it was time to finish up breakfast and start the day. Went to Lahaina. Nice old town. Lunch at Pacific O's, very good. Liked the beach at the very end of South Kihei Rd. Enjoyed the trip to Haleakala, will have to come back to do the sunrise. We celebrated Linda's 50th birthday at the "Feast of Lele" in Lahaina. Lots of food and a good show. Went to Hana on a rainy east coast day. Lots of water pouring off the mountains but streams and ponds were very full and muddy with the run off. The park had closed the Seven Sacred Pools due to flood danger, so we hiked up to the bamboo forest. An easy hike, but the sun was going down, so we didn't make it to the top. Next time. Great ocean views all along the road and good banana bread in Keanae. Drove around west Maui. The blowhole is fun but the road is even more narrow than the one to Hana. The ocean is thunderous here and the windswept landscape makes it all feel like the edge of the world. Our last nite in Maui we went to Cafe'O'Lei at the Rainbow Mall in Kihei and had a great dinner.
